10A The Newnan Times-Herald Wednesday, June 10, 2020 LOCAL OBITUARIES IN LOVING MEMORY OF Charles Gary Boone Legacy Is something that a person leaves be- hind to be remembered by Gary was the second child of Donnie Hall Boone and Geneva Hop- son Boone, a sibling of five children. Gary at- tended Western High School where he met and eventually married Bren- da Acree. They had four children: Judy Ann Boone (Ellard), Charles Jeffery Boone, Angela Jean Boone (Williams), Gego- ry Donald Boone. Gary worked in the cotton mill at Sargent as a weaver, later working for the Gas Company as a truck driv- er. He delivered propane gas to many customers over the years.

Gary lost his father many years ago, his mother just last July, his two brothers: Dennis and Jerry Boone some years back and his two sons: Greg Boone and Jeff Boone not so long ago. Gary left behind two daughters: Judy Ellard and Angie Williams, two sisters: Carole Nylander and Donna Wauman, eleven grandchildren: Chris, Jason, Andrew, Chance, Ashley, Leanne, Anthony, Edward, Aman- da, Josh, Lance, twenty- two great grandchildren: Michelle, Britany, Alys- sa, Carleigh, Harleigh, Abby, Payten, Landon, Laura, Gavin, Abagail, Alex, Mykala, Emily, Ro- man, Leo, Mia, Alexis, Arliana, Kenlie, Greg, Charleigh. James Kenneth Driskill, 80, of Griffin, died Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge. Born January 4, 1940 in Dawson, A labama, he was a son of the late Willis Driskill and the late Gladys Wigley Driskill. Mr. Driskill graduated from Sylvania High School in Sylvania, AL, attended Snead Junior Col lege in Boaz, AL, received a Bachelor of Science from Athens College in Athens, A a nd a Ma te Degree in Education from West Georgia College. He spent his career as a high school teacher at Jonesboro High School, in iver Academy, and many years at East Coweta High School.

Mr. Driskill was English Department Chair and Adviser to school year- books receiv ing both state and national recog- nition for excellence. He was several times named Star Teacher and Teacher of the Year and received the At lan ta Journa Constitution Award as Teacher of the Year in 1985, with his cash award going to provide computer equipment for use by his East Coweta journalism students. Jim was instrumental in organizing and manag- ing the Georgia Scholastic Press Association and served as a consultant to the Southern Regional Press Institute. He took pride in the fact that a number of his students went on to successful careers in journalism and as writers.

When given a choice between a salary bonus and smaller size classes, he chose the lat- ter. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers, Kathryn Lea, Nell Richards, Jayne Harville, Walker Driskill, Doyle Driskill, and David Driskill. Survivors include his siblings, Lera Stewart of Hixon, TN, Richard Driskill of Prattville, AL, Douglas Driskill of Hoover, AL, and Woody Driskill of Decatur.
