S. Turner and Sons. LAWRENCEVILLE Jim W. Hazelwood, 83, package firm exec By STEPHANIA H. DAVIS Jim Hazelwood got hooked on golf as a boy when he played and caddied, once for entertainer Bob Hope.

The Lawrenceville resident lost his father when he was just 4 years old. Mr. Hazelwood left high school in order to work. But despite his truncated education, he became a respected executive at RockTenn one of the nation's biggest producers of recycled paperboard packaging. "He was full Hazelwood of integrity and believed avidly in what he did," said his daughter Lynnd E.

Griffin of Lawrenceville. "He may not have graduated from high school but he found a place where people treated him with respect and he gave his all to them in return." The funeral for James Warren Hazelwood 83, who died Thursday of complications from bypass surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, is 3 p.m. today at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Lawrenceville. Mr.

Hazelwood grew up in Baltimore and served with the state's National Guard unit, called the Maryland Minutemen, during World War 11. After the war he began working for Newth-Morris, which later became Rock-Tenn as an assistant plant manager. The company sent him to manage plants in Charleston, S.C., and Jacksonville before he came to Georgia to manage the Norcross plant in 1955. "He was firm, but fair," said Conrad Hill of Duluth, who had worked with Mr. Hazelwood for several years, adding that Mr.

Hazelwood was respected because he worked his way up through the production operation and then moved into sales. "He had seen the company grow and he was good with customers. They trusted him." Mr. Hazelwood was vice president of sales when he retired in 1988. Since then he had been working as a consultant for the company.

Mr. Hazelwood, who was a member of the National Exchange Club and Sales and Marketing Executives of Atlanta, also enjoyed playing golf with his family. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hazelwood; two sons, James W. Hazelwood Jr. of Alpharetta and Dennis E.

Hazelwood of Snellville; another daughter, Deborah M. Haynes of Grayson; a sister, Anna Rhode of Baltimore, seven grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. BURSE Mr. Alvin Wayne Burse of 4604 Sahara passed May 11, 2001. Funeral announced later.

Mr. Craner was a member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church for over 20 years and retired from the Georgia Pharmacy Association after 25 years as the Director of Member Benefits. A native of Sharon, Ohio, Mrs. Dame was the widow of the late Fleming Charles Dame, who wrote a column for the former Gwinnett Daily News titled "Lilburn Mrs. Dame was retired as the Vital Statistics Administrator from the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Decatur. She was a member of the Retired Federal Employees and the Elks Auxillary.

DANIEL Elizabeth Jean McLerie, died May 10, 2001 after a long illness. A resident of Murfreesboro for the past ten years and former resident of Atlanta for many years. The widow of Charles C. Daniel. Both were prominent Tennessee Walking Horse owners.

DANIEL DR. MICHAEL ANTHONY DANIEL MAY 8, 1962 APRIL 20, 2001 In his Earthly life, Michael was a loving and devoted son, grandson, brother, friend and boyfriend. He fought non-Hodgkins lymphoma as a warrior, never giving up hope. He passed into God's arms with peace, grace and dignity at 9:05 AM on and was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Michael was born in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1973.

He graduated from The Marist School in 1980, received his B.S. from Emory University in 1984, where he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. He then obtained his DMD from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1988. He earned his Ph.D. in 1998 at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and was an Associate Professor and Research Scientist at Boston University's School of Periodontology.

Michael earned many honors, awards and fellowships throughout his career, and had some great times performing dental surgery on lions, bears, and other fearsome creatures in distress at various animal habitats. Michael was an avid and accomplished mountaineer, having reached the summit of Mt. Fairweather in Alaska, Mount Athabasca in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Cotopaxi and Mount Chimboraza in Equador, several peaks along the Cordillera Blanca in Peru, and many peaks throughout the world. He was a rugged outdoorsman and a member of the Lane County Search and Rescue Team in Eugene, Oregon. Michael was quite simply one-of-a-kind.

An accomplished doctor, scholar, athlete, mountaineer, alpinist and marksman. He had a remarkable spirit that would bring out the best in anyone with whom he came in contact. His energy was positive at all times, even when he was fighting for his life. Michael is survived by his parents Karen and Roy Daniel, maternal grandmother Sue Thomas, sister and soulmate Dawn Daniel Hart, brother and best friend Christopher Daniel, nieces Alexandra Hart and Sophia Daniel, nephew Maximillian Hart, uncles and aunts Robert and Judith Thomas, Sam and Sylvia Daniel, other loving aunts and uncles, special cousins, Mr. and Mrs.

Ted Kipreos (Vicki Thomas), Mr. and Mrs. Kim Kenley (Pam Thomas), Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thomas (Wendy), Mr.

Michael will be forever remembered for his extraordinary love of life, his remarkable character, honor, dignity and courage. He is truly a hero to everyone who knew him.

TURI FERRO, 80, of Catania, Sicily, an actor for 50 years best known for his stage depictions of Luigi Pirandello's characters, died Friday of a heart attack.

JOSEPH H. GREENBERG, 85, of Stanford, a linguist who. researched the origins of language and studied similarities among languages, died Monday of pancreatic cancer. DAVID JAMIESON, 80, of New York, a British Army captain during World War Il who received the Victoria Cross, Britain's highest award for valor, died May 5. SARAH TOMERLIN LEE, 90, of New York, whose career in fashion, advertising and interior design lasted more than six decades and went back and forth between the advertising world, where she worked for Helena Rubenstein, Elizabeth Arden and Leona Helmsley, and the magazine world, where she was an editor at Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and House Beautiful, died April 15.

ALLAN SLOANE, 86, of New York, who wrote socially conscious dramas for television and radio and won three Emmys, six Peabody Awards, two Writer's Guild Awards and critical acclaim for his scripts involving children with physical or mental handicaps, died on April 29 in New Canaan, Conn. DEBORAH WALLEY, 57, of Sedona, an actress who appeared in a series of 1960s beach movies, including the title role in the 1961 movie "'Gidget Goes Hawaiian," the 1965 film "Beach Blanket Bingo," starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, and "Spinout" with Elvis Presley in 1966, died Thursday of esophageal cancer. HOLLBERG Mrs. Sandra Thomas Hollberg, age 64, of Senoia, Ga died May 10, 2001. Born in Atlanta, Georgia and was a graduate of Washington Seminary and Agnes Scott College. A former Kindergarten teacher, she wed Charles Frank Hollberg Ill in 1958. They made their home in Senoia, Ga where she worked with husband, Frank, operating Hollberg's Fine Furniture.

Mrs. Hollberg was an active member of the Alter Guild of St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin, Ga. She enjoyed traveling with her family as well as cooking, reading and gardening. Mrs.

Hollberg's Funeral Service will be held Monday May 14, 2001 at at St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin, Ga. The Reverend Spurgeon Hays will officiate. Interment will follow at the Senoia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mckoon Funeral Home in Newnan, Ga Sunday May 13, 2001 from 6-9pm.
