Tarzan In Grandstand 1, 2 & 3 Zandvoort: Views, Seat Plan, Tickets (2024)

The Tarzan In grandstand at Circuit Zandvoort gives you an amazing view of one of the best overtaking spots on the whole Dutch GP track.

This article provides a complete guide to this grandstand based on my trip to the Dutch Grand Prix in 2023.

It includes examples of the view from different seats, a full seating chart, information on the different sections and tickets plus my tips on choosing the best seats.

The grandstand is positioned towards the end of the straight in the braking zone and turn-in point for the first corner, Tarzan.

The stand isn’t quite opposite the pit garages as they’re earlier along the straight on the other side of the track.

The Tarzan In grandstand is part of the Gold group of stands. These give the best views so are the most expensive Dutch GP grandstand tickets on sale.

When purchasing Tarzan In tickets through the Dutch GP website there are three different sections within the Tarzan In grandstand:

• Tarzan In 1
• Tarzan In 2
• Tarzan in 3

In reality there’s no real distinction between sections 1, 2 or 3 as they’re all just part of one continuous grandstand. The only difference is your view from each which will be covered more below.

These seats are super popular so tickets often sell out around far in advance of the race on the official Dutch Grand Prix site. If that’s the case and you’re still looking for tickets, I’d recommend buying through P1 travel. They’re an officially approved ticket reseller with a great reputation and have a great choice of 1, 2 or 3-day tickets available.

A 3-day ticket in the Gold grandstands will cost around 400 Euros more than a 3-day Zandvoort General Admission ticket.

There’s no roof over this stand so it’s completely exposed to the elements.In 2023 that meant everyone got soaking wet.

You’re not supposed to use umbrellas in the grandstands so make sure you bring some appropriate clothing and something to sit on as the seats collect water.

There are two different screens visible from this stand. One is on the left hand side on the outside of the Tarzan corner.The other is on the other side of the circuit in between the pit lane buildings, in line with the right-hand end of the stand.

The screen on the outside of Turn 1 can be seen by everyone in this stand. The screen in between the pitlane buildings is easier to see the further to the right you are sat.

There are numerous food vendors directly behind this stand and toilets beneath it. But this is one of the busiest areas of the circuit during the Formula 1 weekend, right inside the Gate 1 entrance, so there can be a huge volume of spectators in the walking area behind the stand in between sessions.

I saw queues 20 or 30 people deep for the toilets and getting anywhere took a little while because of the sheer amount of people.

As the seating chart shows the grandstand has a total of 42 rows. Row 1 is lowest down at the front and row 42 is highest up at the back.

The seat numbers increase from left to right (if you stand on the track and look up at the stand). They are continuous across the whole stand, with seat 341 being the furthest seat to the right closest to Tarzan corner.

You can enter the grandstand by a number of different entrances that start from 133 and go all the way up to 146. These are listed as the ‘Opgang’ (entrance) numbers on the back of the stand.

This year the ticket’s didn’t go a very good job of showing which entrance you need for which seats, so the seating chart above helps show that.

The chart above below shows the different Tarzan In 1, 2 and 3 section numbers within the seating chart.

If you’re sat on the left hand side of the stand (higher seat numbers, mostly all of section 1) then you can see the entry, apex and most of the way around the first corner Tarzan.

If you’re sat on the right hand side of the stand in sections 2 or 3 then you won’t be able to see much of the corner past the entry.

You can also see all the way down the start / finish straight from pretty much everywhere in the stand, but it’ll be easier the further to the right you sit.

Sitting high up towards the back of the stand gives you a much wider vantage point but you’re further from the track. It does mean you’ll find it easier to look down the straight towards the exit of the final corner.

Sitting low down near the front means you have a narrower field of view, but you are much closer to the circuit. The stand is raised up above ground level so even row 1 lowest down is level with the top of the safety fence.

The safety fence is also a few metres away from the front of the stand so doesn’t block your view too badly (if at all) from any of the front rows.

If you’re heading to Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix and want to sit in the Tarzan In grandstand, I’d go for seats in section 1 in a higher row.

Anything above seat number 235 and row 20 would give a nice high up vantage point with a good view of the first corner. Plus it’d be close to the large TV screen to the left.

The start / finish straight is one of the Zandvoort DRS Zones and means that the braking zone and entry to Turn 1 is a great spot to see some overtaking.

It’s also the first corner on the track so there’s likely to be some first-lap action here. Plus when it rained hard in 2023 at the Dutch GP numerous F1 drivers outbraked themselves and went in to the gravel or barriers here (including Zhou’s 19G impact), both in practice, qualifying and during the race.

The atmosphere in all the stands at Zandvoort is awesome for the Grand Prix. The Orange Army are out in force supporting Max, wearing orange, and the Tarzan In grandstand is a great place to see some of the best on-track action and soak up the raceday vibe.

From having sat here I think this is well worth being part of the Gold group of grandstands that are most expensive.

The nearest entrance to this grandstand is Gate 1 which is directly behind the stand.
