Last year, in honor of our father's 69th birthday, my brother Ruben Hartog and I took our father to El Derbi Madrileรฑo; Altรฉtico Madrid - Real Madrid.Before we entered the stadium we wanted to eat something from a Wok & Go near the stadium.Once I arrived at the front of the queue it became clear to me why it took so long. Besides the crowds, there were 2 girls working who didn't look that comfortable.Not surprising, because one of the ladies had her first day and the other was in her first week."first day" and "first week" is how they kept apologizing to all impatient customers.In the b2b sales landscape a lot of companies have sky high expectations from their (new hired) SDR'S, AE'S and CSM'S.As with the Wok and Go, due to busyness, little attention is paid to strategy and processes and new people are quickly left to fend for themselves.The result often is a sky-high burn rate, no growth and again pressure on HR to find new "good" people.A scalable and predictable growth machine consists of strategy, processes and skills. No hacks or cheats for this one ;).

Let me tell you how I overcame the challenges encountered while offering exceptional customer service.๐คIf you missed out on my previous post, please click on this link https://rb.gy/bspvy7 and share your thoughts.Let's get into it!!!๐For customers providing incomplete information:Have you met customers calling in and they spend a greater part of the call time trying to form words?โฆโฆโฆ๐ซ ๐ฎ๐จCustomers struggling to explain their issues and letโs take it a notch for the wonderful customers who donโt speak English๐ซก.To overcome this challenge, you have to acknowledge the fact that nobody understands your product better than the Product Managers and the Customer Support because theyโre supposed to work together. As customer Success specialists, we should be able to decipher what the customer wants before theyโre done complaining, without assumptions we should be able to tell the issues based on some key words they will use. Also, ask relevant questions to be 100% certain of the solutions youโll give. For Language barrier issues, you can offer to transfer the call to an agent that speaks that language and if itโs a language you speak then you can switch to communicate effectively. ๐ฅฐFor irate customers, you have to remember that the customer is not angry with you as a person but is unsatisfied with the product/service offered. Remain calm, empathize with the customer and proffer effective solutions.For poor network and work tools, we have to manage the situation when it arises and improvise as resolution of these issues may not be within your power.I hope these tips help you too in your journey in this role!Itโs giving badass support specialist vibes!!!๐What other tips do you have to help others offer excellent customer support? I'm a little over a month in here in my new role at Vitally.ioIt's clear I've found an amazing group of people I get to call teammates now, but I've also made some other observations in general:๐ฅ It's a competitive spaceEach deal is almost guaranteed to have other Customer Success Platforms being evaluated/considered by your prospect. But, competition is a good thing - it means there's a problem big enough where it's driven many people to try to fix that problem๐ Customer Success teams are also being asked to "do more with less"Who isn't? While it seems like most teams can relate, orgs seem to be cognizant that they need to properly support and enable their front-line client-facing teams to keep happy customers (making CSPs even more important)๐ต Customer Success is doing more and more to drive revenue - not just retain itI've already heard a theme around this in the short month I've been on calls - examples ranging from more easily identifying expansion opportunities for CSMs/AMs, to having a central way to report on all things revenue and customer health for Leadership. Revenue is becoming more of a company goal and not just "a Sales goal"I'll be sure to share more observations as they comeIn the meantime, I'm pumped to be building pipeline and closing deals alongside an incredible team with a very slick and disruptive product๐ค ๐
